Strengthening Support for Aging at Home in Brookline: MONDAY, MARCH 22, 2010, 7:00-9:00 PM

Brookline is an appealing place to live, especially as people get older. Excellent transportation, educational, cultural and health care services are nearby. It has a rich service environment for those who want to continue living independently in their homes. The Senior Center and a variety of nonprofit and profit agencies, offer many social, personal and practical services that enable people to stay at home.

However, the need for stronger community supports exists and will continue to grow.

The Senior Center is convening a community meeting to introduce a proposal to strengthen supports for older residents. The program would expand services offered by the Senior Center and encourage neighborhood-based volunteer efforts. The meeting will be of interest to people of all ages with concerns about needs of older residents.

The meeting will include short presentations by a panel consisting of;
·
         Ann Bookman, an expert on the “Village” movement
·
         Ruthann Dobek, Director of the Brookline Senior Center
·
         Marsha Frankel, Jewish Family and Children’s Services
·
         Frank Caro, a Gerontologist  and a representative of a local neighborhood initiative
